BROXYDELTA

- Bromhexine HCL 4.0 mg., Dextromethorphan HBr. 5.0 mg, Pseudoephedrine 30.0 mg., Ammonium Chloride 50.0 mg.

Composition and Presentation:

A glass bottle of 100 ml. Each 5 ml (teaspoonful) contain: Bromhexine HCL 4.0 mg., Dextromethorphan HBr. 5.0 mg, Pseudoephedrine 30.0 mg., Ammonium Chloride 50.0 mg.

 

Properties:

BROXYDELTA is a complete anti-cough preparation. Dextromethorphan HBr, an antitussive, is used to relieve a nonproductive cough due to colds or influenza (flu) or other conditions (central cough suppressant). Pseudoephdrine (PSE) is a safe and effective oral nasal decongestant used to treat congestion associated with allergies, hay fever, sinus irritation, and the common cold. Bromhexine HC1 is mucolytic who liquefies the viscous bronchial mucus and increases the volume of sputum and Ammonium chloride possesses a secretomotor activity - stimulates the respiratory tract epithelial cilia movement and facilitates expectoration.

 

Indications:

Spastic cough, cough associated with respiratory tract such as nasal congestion and common cold, acute and chronic bronchitis.

 

Contraindications:

- Hypersensitivity to any of the ingredients.
- Newborn, premature infants.
- Patients receiving MAO inhibitors or within 14 days of stopping such treatment.
- Severe coronary artery disease and hypertension
- The first three months of pregnancy.

 

Side Effects:

BROXYDELTA is very well tolerated and side effects are not common. Sedation, dizziness. gastro-intestinal disturbance, dryness of buccopharyngeal mucosa, skin rash, palpitation may occur.

 

Drugs and Interaction:

- BROXYDELTA may enhance the activity of the antibiotics (tetracycline and erythromycin)
- Antacids (aluminium and magnesium hydroxide) potentiates the absorption of pseudoephedrine.
Brodimexine potentiates the effects of alcohol and other CNS depressants.

 

Precautions:

- BROXYDELTA should be used carefully in patients with cardiovascular disease, diabetes, asthma, renal or hepatic failure, hyperthyroidism and during breast feeding second or third trimester of pregnancy.
BROXYDELTA should be used with caution in driving persons.

 

Dosage:

Children: 2 — 5 years: 1/2 teaspoonftils 3 times daily.
Children: 5 — 12 years: 1 teaspoonful 3 times daily.

 

Storage:

Store at room temperature out of the reach of children.
